Tired of high gas prices? There's no better time than Sustainable Transportation Month to dump the pump and try public transit, especially when it could be fare-free or subsidized! We provide the following programs that make it possible for Bruins to get around without paying a pretty penny.

Bruin U-Pass

With the April 2023 passage of the UCLA undergraduate student transit pass referendum, undergrads have fare-free access to select transit agencies throughout LA County including those serving UCLA through the new Bruin U-Pass program. Students can enjoy unlimited rides on the local lines serving UCLA: Los Angeles Metro bus and rail linesSanta Monica Big Blue Bus, and Culver CityBus; the four commuter lines with direct access to campus: Antelope Valley TransitSanta Clarita TransitLong Beach Transit, and LADOT Commuter Express; and more!

Bruin Grad Pass

Bruin Grad Pass provides eligible graduate students fare-free use of select transit agencies throughout LA County including those serving UCLA. Made possible by the April 2020 passage of the graduate student transit pass referendum, Bruin Grad Pass is currently approved to run through Fall 2023. A special referendum election for graduate students will be held from Nov. 1-7 to determine if the program will continue beyond the calendar year.

Bruin Commuter Transit Benefit

The Bruin Commuter Transit Benefit provides eligible Bruins with a free quarterly transit pass valid for any of the seven transit agencies serving UCLA: Los Angeles Metro bus and rail linesSanta Monica Big Blue BusCulver CityBusAntelope Valley TransitSanta Clarita TransitLong Beach Transit, and LADOT Commuter Express. For eligibility requirements and to register, visit the Bruin Commuter Transit Benefit page.

Subsidized Transit Passes

Bruins not eligible for the passes above can still ride transit with a subsidized pass. The Commuter All-Access Pass provides unlimited rides on all seven transit agencies including the commuter lines serving UCLA. Those who only need to ride locally can purchase a BruinGO! and Go Metro pass. BruinGO! provides unlimited access to all Santa Monica Big Blue Bus and Culver CityBus lines, while the Go Metro pass allows unlimited rides on all Metro bus and rail lines and the Metro Micro on-demand rideshare service. Go Metro provides the ultimate value as it also includes a free BruinGO! pass!
