Traffic is Spooky: Ride, Don’t Drive for UCLA Sustainable Transportation Month!

Sustainable Transportation Month Launch

Who’s afraid of a big, bad commute? Not Bruins, when the university supports biking, public transit, and carpooling to get to campus! Every October, as the leaves turn pumpkin spice orange, and darkness descends earlier, Sustainable Transportation creeps around the corner at UCLA – a celebration of the greener ways to go that don’t chill Bruins to their bones, and help them avoid spooky traffic, and keep high gas prices, stress from driving, and more car-induced scaries at bay. This fall, UCLA Transportation invites students, faculty, and staff to change one trip from driving alone during October, with a chance to win prizes including Target and AMC Theatres gift cards, a 2-night stay at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge, UCLA Football tickets, and more.

Take the Pledge to Win a Prize

UCLA Transportation offers several programs to get Bruins moving, including bike resourcesfree and subsidized transit passes, discounted carpool parking permits, and BruinBus. With these options, Bruins can transform from a stuck behind-the-wheel zombie into a more relaxed, refreshed commuter, and sink their teeth into these delightful (not frightful) advantages of alternative transportation:

  • Saves money
  • Decreases congestion on freeways and streets
  • Improves air quality
  • Promotes health and well-being

Leave being terrorized by a drive-alone commute in the past when you pledge to give walking, biking, taking transit, carpooling, or telecommuting a try for one trip in October. Have a thrilling good time joining UCLA Transportation all month as we champion riding over driving, hosting activities and events to answer questions and share information, all with treats and giveaways.
