Bruin Bike Share is Ending on June 26

Bruin Bike Share

Due to the impacts of COVID-19 on campus operations, and after evaluating safety concerns and costs, Bruin Bike Share will discontinue effective Friday, June 26.

The decision to end Bruin Bike Share operations came after the recent announcement from Uber to terminate the JUMP software used to operate Bike Share Connect’s system, the regional network in which Bruin Bike Share operates. Due to the increased costs to continue running the program as well as the limited number of users on campus, repurposing the bikes and halting the program was in the best interest of the campus community.

Customers who keep their memberships will remain part of the regional Bike Share Connect system, which is comprised of Beverly Hills Bike Share and Santa Monica's Breeze Bike Share. Bike Share Connect will continue to offer users who keep their memberships free drop-offs at existing bike racks at UCLA and in Westwood. However, bikes that are part of this program will not be available for rental in the area surrounding campus after June 26.

UCLA Transportation will work with various graduate housing locations to repurpose the Bruin Bike Share bikes and provide additional commute options for graduate student residents.

Prorated refunds will be provided to members who have a UCLA Affiliate or Academic Annual account who wish to cancel their memberships. Questions can be directed to transportation@ts.ucla.edu and to review the refund policy click here.
