Per UCLA Campus Policy 813, all electric personal mobility devices (EPMDs) on campus must be registered with UCLA Transportation. Additionally, anyone planning to charge and/or store an e-device on campus must have UCLA Fire inspect it to ensure it meets UL safety standards. Registration helps deter theft, assists UCPD in tracking down stolen property, and increases the likelihood of reuniting you with your device.
Your registration remains valid for the life of your sticker. If your sticker becomes damaged or difficult to read, please contact us to request a replacement.
You must register each of your devices once with UCLA Transportation. However, annual UL verification is required through UCLA Fire.

No, these guidelines do not apply to wheeled devices designed for and used by individuals with mobility-related disabilities.
A rental device is a PMD rental. Unlike shared mobility devices, which are for short-term, on-demand use, these are leased for longer durations and must be returned to the provider once the lease period ends.
The same registration requirements apply to rental devices, and the same UL verification requirements apply to any rentals that will be charged and/or stored on campus.
Starting Fall 2026, only devices that are registered with UCLA Transportation and verified for UL compliance by UCLA Fire may be charged on campus. Please refer to the Charging & Fire Safety section on how to safely charge your device.

- Ask the manufacturer or retailer, or look on their website. Look at product descriptions, user manuals, and/or technical specifications

Improperly parked Shared Mobility Devices should be reported directly to the vendor.

- Verify if your device was impounded by emailing transportation@ts.ucla.edu with the device’s make, model, color, and last known location.
- Otherwise, work with the UCLA Police Department to file a report by calling (310) 825-1491. You should also report the device stolen on Bike Index.
If your device was parked illegally, chained to a pole or railing, or appeared abandoned, it may have been relocated, immobilized in place, or impounded. To check if your device was relocated, immobilized in place, or impounded, please contact the relevant Building Coordinator or UCLA Transportation's Mobility Device Associates at mda@ts.ucla.edu.
Modified and/or damaged devices, batteries, or chargers should be reported based on their location:

They are the same. Personal mobility devices may also be referred to as “micromobility devices.” These devices include, but are not limited to, bicycles, scooters, and skateboards. They can be motorized or human-powered. This definition does not include wheelchairs or other mobility aids designed for use by an individual with a mobility disability.
Shared Micromobility: UCLA currently has a partnership with Bird and Veo to provide shared electric scooters and electric bikes on campus.
