Fall is a time for fresh starts, like considering a new commute option. This October, rethink your ride and try forgoing driving alone for a chance to win prizes! Along the way, you'll discover the many benefits of going green.
UCLA Transportation is here all October with activities and events to help students, faculty, and staff turn over a new leaf with how they travel to campus. An easier, breezier fall is just one trip away when you pledge to give walking, biking, taking transit, carpooling, or telecommuting a chance during Sustainable Transportation Month.
These are the less stressful, cheaper commute options that reduce traffic jams and improve air quality. Everyone who pledges has the chance to win great prizes, including a Target gift card and AMC Theatres gift package.
The department has programs to get Bruins going, such as bike resources, free and subsidized transit passes, discounted carpool parking permits, plus the complimentary campus shuttle BruinBus.
And, there’s additional flexibility enabling daily decision-making. Campus commuters can decide what ride works best on any given work or school day. Purchase a discounted parking permit, take the bus, or use Metro Bike Share all in the same week.
Join us on campus to learn more about the department’s offerings and promotions to take advantage of, get transportation questions answered, and spin a prize wheel at the annual Sustainable Transportation Month Fair on Thursday, October 6, from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. in Bruin Plaza.
Outreach events with free giveaways will be held earlier in the week at the following times:
- Monday, Oct. 3, from 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at LuValle Commons
- Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center
- Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 7:30–10:00 a.m. at Trimana Café at the Wilshire Center
UCLA Transportation invites Bruins to also follow along on our blog, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok as we celebrate lowering your carbon footprint and offering rewards for pledging to share the ride.
Catch you in the carpool, bus-only, and bike lane, Bruins!
