Switching Gears for UCLA Bike Month

Bike Month 2.0

Recognizing National Bike Month in May is a tradition at the university — a time to acknowledge our campus riding community and encourage more Bruins to give two wheels a try by sharing resources that support biking at UCLA. While this year's UCLA Bike Month will take a turn in response to current events impacting the campus and Bruins, we're pivoting with new plans to commemorate biking, a movement that creates happier people and a healthier planet — and makes you part of a connected community.

This year, Bike Month at UCLA will be different, but whether for commuting or recreation, even in challenging times, riding a bike remains a fun, active, healthy, and environmentally friendly form of transportation. Biking is incredibly beneficial, from reducing pollution and traffic congestion to improving mental health and lowering stress — and much more.

Bruins, we're still going for a ride — so hop in the saddle, grip those handlebars, and ring that bike bell! Join us for the rest of May as we embrace cycling by imparting information in weekly blog posts, hosting online activities, deploying a bike survey, and offering mobile repair services around campus.

Mobile Repair Services provided by the UCLA Bike Shop and Velofix.

The department will also run a weekly raffle for prizes on InstagramX (formally known as Twitter), and Facebook. Follow along each week to participate and stay up-to-date as we share more prize details and announce the winners.

Previously scheduled events for the month — the pit stops and luncheon — are postponed till further notice due to changes in campus operations, with hopes to reschedule these bike festivities for later dates in the fall quarter. Just like a well-maintained bicycle, stay tuned for an update!
