A transportation option for official university business, BruinCar keeps the campus community moving: to reach outside research sites, attend off-campus meetings and conferences, go on field trips, or complete service projects in other locations.

Faculty, staff, and students—working with a university representative through an approved department or program—can hit the road with BruinCar, unlocking several benefits by renting a vehicle through UCLA. 

These include affordable rates, easy booking through virtual reservations, and a convenient on-campus pick-up location for your chosen vehicle, with greener rides available, including EVs.

Drive off in a sedan, a fully-electric SUV, a up to 10-passenger, full-size van, a cargo or utility vehicle, or a smaller low-speed vehicle, like a motorized cart. Our BruinCar team can even provide coordination for specialty rentals, like larger trucks, through trusted vendors.

Reserving a BruinCar vehicle is simple with the online system. 

Faculty or staff intending to drive the vehicle can create a Driver Account, which requires a valid license and completion of BruinCar’s safety training. For students, there is a Reservation Authorizer Account, handled by an authorized faculty or staff member. Student groups from SOLE, ASUCLA, and UCLA Recreation regularly utilize BruinCar. 

Once approved, users can check real-time availability, reserve, modify, or cancel in minutes — and pick up their vehicle right on campus. Then it is time to ride away.
