The arrival of autumn means the arrival of National Rideshare Month. This October, UCLA Transportation is highlighting ridesharing with a virtual Sustainable Transportation Month celebration. Commuting may look very different for many Bruins this year, but we are looking forward to celebrating this worthwhile initiative to get out of the car and use other means of transportation.
Sustainable Transportation Month is about rethinking your ride and trying a better way of getting around. Skip the car for a feel-good walk, mood-boosting bike ride, or take it easy on the bus. Whether you are running essential errands or heading out on the weekend after long days of working from home or doing remote instruction, the sustainable way to go offers health benefits, saves money, reduces traffic congestion, and helps the environment by improving air quality.
Eco-friendly transportation options allow you to travel safely and have a minimal impact on the planet. Every ride you do sustainably adds up to a better tomorrow for all Bruins.
Follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the virtual celebration as we share all the reasons why walking, biking, grabbing a scooter or using public transit are better alternatives to driving alone. Throughout the month, we’ll be hosting weekly social media contests with prizes! Get movin’ and keep up with us all October for more chances to win.
Remember to observe public health guidelines for staying safe and healthy so you can go the distance during UCLA Sustainable Transportation Month!
