With fall quarter underway, Bruins are back to commuting. As you cruise to campus for the start of the academic year, now is the time to take a step back and reevaluate your ride.
October is National Rideshare Month, and at UCLA, we celebrate ditching driving alone as Sustainable Transportation Month. All October, UCLA Transportation invites you to consider opting out of that car trip for the greener way to get where you are going. In addition to reducing traffic, preserving air quality, saving money, and stressing less, we guarantee smiling more when choosing the alternative could earn you a bonus reward!
Join us as we showcase sustainable ways to commute this October and pledge to walk, ride a bike, carpool, vanpool, take public transit, or telecommute for a chance to win an assortment of exciting prizes, including gift cards from the UCLA Store and businesses in Westwood Village.
Get out of the car and follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and join us on campus as we highlight all the benefits of choosing better alternatives to driving alone.
The Sustainable Transportation Month Fair is on Thursday, October 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bruin Plaza. Bruins can also learn more and pledge at tabling events at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Tuesday, October 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at Lu Valle Commons on Monday, October 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
As the new academic year continues to roll on, what better time is there for faculty, staff, and students to switch gears and try an environmentally friendly ride? Every sustainable trip you take today adds up to a better tomorrow for all of us.
Catch you in the bus-only, bike, or carpool lane, Bruins!
