Self-driving EV Company Waymo Pulling up to L.A. with Transit Credit Program

Autonomous ride-hailing service Waymo is launching a program in Los Angeles to incentivize hopping in their zero-emission ride and taking public transit following a successful test of the program in San Francisco. Riders who connect to one of eight eligible transit stations will receive a $3.00 Waymo credit. The credit will appear on your Waymo account after the trip and can be applied toward future rides within 60 days of the date of issuance.

Available through April 1, the transit credit pilot program is about getting Angelenos to travel more sustainably to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The designated bus stations eligible to earn the credit are ones frequently used by LAX travelers. A stop included in the program is a location convenient to Bruins — UCLA Gateway.

Waymo's fleet of vehicles is fully electric. The autonomous driving technology — the Waymo Driver — uses sensors, cameras, and radar to identify objects and plan a route. Riders can hail a car 24 hours a day, seven days a week, across 79 square miles of L.A., from the Santa Monica Pier to Downtown. Catch a fully autonomous ride in LA County now.
