Clean Fuel Permits Being Discontinued as of July 1, 2024

Clean Fuel Permits Discontinued as of July 1

Due to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles over the past several years, UCLA Transportation’s Clean Fuel incentive program and permits will be discontinued effective July 1, 2024.

Clean Fuel permits were initially introduced to help incentivize drivers into a more sustainable mode of transportation. In 2023, more than 3,100 employees commuted to campus daily via an electric vehicle (EV), and EVs accounted for 10.2% of newly registered vehicles during Fall Quarter 2023, up from just 4% during Fall Quarter 2019. As this EV use is one of the highest for any college or university in the country, the need to incentivize and offer Clean Fuel permits has diminished.

UCLA Transportation will continue to offer complimentary charging on a first-come, first-served basis in numerous parking structures, and efforts to expand EV charger inventory on campus will persist. However, those wishing to use chargers in particular structures must have a valid permit for that location. Please visit our Electric Vehicle Charging Stations page for more information and a complete list of charging locations.

Employees with a Clean Fuel permit should work with their Commute Coordinator as soon as possible to determine their parking allocation and permit based on space availability. Anyone with questions regarding the discontinuation of Clean Fuel permits can email transportation@ts.ucla.edu or call (310) 794-7433.
