UCLA is turning to technology to prevent bicycle thefts by piloting a high-security bike rack system. Located at Bunche Hall, the Bikeep smart bike rack is designed to be a stronger theft deterrent compared to traditional U-locks
The Bikeep rack has seven spaces available on a first come basis and is free to use by downloading the Bikeep app. Once a bike is parked, the app is used to securely lock the frame and wheel of the bike with a steel bar, and the bike is unlocked by ending the session on the app. Continuous parking at the Bikeep rack is limited to 24 hours.
