Construction is ramping up on Metro's eagerly awaited Purple Line Extension scheduled to be completed in 2027. When it opens, Bruins will finally be able to commute by rail to a station just steps away from campus.
Until then, construction activity will impact traffic near UCLA, including lane reductions and occasional closures of the 405 on- and off-ramps at Wilshire during off-peak hours. Sidewalk, crosswalk, and turn-lane closures also are planned.
Already scheduled to be closed are two westbound lanes on the north side of Wilshire Blvd. between Westwood Blvd. and Gayley Ave., and between Gayley and Veteran Ave., for approximately seven months beginning in September.
