Campus Traffic
Southern California freeway traffic is legendary and surface streets leading to UCLA are often congested. In fact, Wilshire Boulevard to the south of campus has the dubious distinction of containing three of the top ten most heavily traveled intersections in all of Los Angeles. Get live real-time traffic reports before you come to campus or hit the road to drive home. Choose from two free services:
- Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) offers Real Time Traffic for L.A. and surrounding counties.
- Sigalert.com has free maps of freeway traffic conditions available online. Sigalert.com also gives you the option to sign up for a service delivering more personalized reports on your route, including travel times, via the Web, email or phone, for a modest monthly fee.
Emergency & Travel Advisories
UCLA has an on-campus radio station which operates around the clock, seven days a week, broadcasting local emergency and travel advisories to UCLA employees, students and visitors. Tune your radio to AM 1630 when on campus or in Westwood.
Campus Safety
Safety is a key priority at UCLA. UCLA Transportation coordinates efforts with the UCLA Police to provide information, programs and services focused on safety. For more information, click on the Campus Safety link in Related Information.
