The Global Electric Motorcar (GEM) program is an excellent alternate transportation vehicle. The program is ideal to obtain air quality benefits and compliments UCLA’s aggressive transportation strategy of increasing the utilization of electric vehicles and other alternative fuel concepts.
GEMs are street legal on roadways posted 35 mph or less. With a top speed of 26 mph, is it ideal for campus use, as proven by the dozens GEMs already operating on campus. These zero emission electric vehicles use standard 110V outlets for charging, offering an excellent range of approximately 50 miles on a full charge.
