The university fleet has again earned a spot on the annual 100 Best Fleets ranking of the top fleet organizations in the nation. 100 Best Fleets is a program run by the NAFA Fleet Management Association that recognizes peak-performing vehicle operations within the fleet industry.
Performance, service turnaround time, collaboration, resource stewardship, and accountability are all criteria for the award.
UCLA's fleet made the prestigious list for being an outstanding operation, providing efficient, cost-effective, quality vehicles to meet the varying needs of staff, faculty, and students 365 days a year. University-owned vehicles provide complimentary paratransit service for Bruins and visitors, serve as mobile medical units for critical patients, and more.
Excellence in environmental responsibility also earned UCLA's operation points, with more all-electric, zero-emission vehicles becoming available for campus use. Currently, 40% of the fleet is vehicles that produce no tailpipe emissions, which helps improve air quality for the campus community.
Landing on the 2022 winners list was additionally due to advances in fleet technology. These include the installation of telematics and launching an upgraded cloud-based information system. And safety improvements like contactless options for customers further helped UCLA's fleet receive special recognition.
UCLA Transportation climbed five spots from 2021, achieving a higher placing in this year’s ranking. UCLA is also one of only four universities recognized on the list — and in the top 50. Congratulations to fleet services for proving it is one of the industry’s best!
